Basically, you can go wherever the road takes you… the whole of the UK and Europe is your oyster!*

If you intend to stay on the UK mainland then you don’t need to tell us your destination. However, if you want to venture further afield, for example, the Isle Of Man, Ireland, the Scottish Isles or into mainland Europe, then you just need to tell us at the time of booking. This is basically because different insurance, roadside assistance and driving regulations will apply. If you are travelling to Europe (including travel from Northern Ireland to the Republic of Ireland), the hirer will require a green card which our insurers will be able to provide.

You will need your driving licence and two forms of identification for each intended driver. ID must include matching proof of address, for example a bank statement or utility bill. Drivers must be between the ages of 25 and 75 with a maximum of 6 penalty points on their licence and must be full UK residents at the time of booking. We only accept UK driving licences and we will carry out a DVLA driving licence check for each named driver.

We then also require a suitable form of identification for each passenger unless the passengers are children under the age of 16 years whereby no ID will be necessary.

A non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking, with the full balance for the hire period, together with any accessories or optional extras, being payable 30 days prior to the date of hire. Please see the next section for further information on deposits.

Yes, we take a 30% deposit at the time of booking which reserves the vehicle for your chosen hire dates. This deposit is non-refundable, regardless of any change of circumstances. The remaining balance for the rental period is then payable 30 days prior to collection, either via debit / credit card, or bank transfer. If you are booking less than 30 days in advance, then the full payment is due immediately.

We also require a sum of £1000 to be paid one day prior to vehicle collection. This is an insurance excess payment which will be refunded upon return of the vehicle subject to inspection.

If, for any reason, the vehicle is returned in an unsatisfactory condition, showing either physical or mechanical signs of damage or neglect, we will retain either the full insurance excess or an appropriate percentage of the deposit to cover any costs that we may incur, up to the total value of the insurance excess.

Damage to the windscreen, windows, wheels and tyres are not covered by this insurance excess and full payment to rectify any damages in this respect will be required, over and above the £1000 excess.

We recommend that you take out a suitable personal travel insurance policy to cover you in the event of having to cancel your trip for any reason.

* PLEASE NOTE We reserve the right to charge for any damage, excessive cleaning or misuse of the vehicle and / or it’s components or accessories if we deem the damage to have been caused in a non-accidental or ‘malicious’ way.

The campervan is available for you to collect from 2pm onwards on the first day of hire and must be returned no later than 11am on the last day of hire unless special arrangements have been made at the time of booking. If you wish to collect or drop-off at different times, please contact us as we will always do our best to accommodate your requirements. The vehicle must also be returned to our premises in Whalley, again, unless otherwise agreed at the time of booking. It is possible for us to arrange collection and delivery, including set-up, of the vehicle within a 60 mile radius, as well as collecting you from the local airport or train station. These services are provided at additional cost. If you are collecting the vehicle from us, you are welcome to leave your own car with us for the duration of hire.

We would always recommend that you allow an hour for both collections and returns as we will need to carry out our check-in / out process whilst in your company. At the time of collection, we will also give you a practical demonstration of the vehicle’s features, fixings and accessories. Please factor sufficient time into your schedule for this.

We do not include insurance when we hire out a vehicle, however there are many insurance companies that will offer a temporary hire policy from as little as one day at a time. These policies are designed specifically for self-drive hire and tend to cover the major aspects of the vehicle, including bodywork, engine and mechanical components, interior trim, habitat and optional accessories, against accidental damage. Windscreen, window, wheel and tyre damage are usually not included in such policies and an insurance excess will be applicable.

We are all human and we understand that accidents do occasionally happen, sometimes through no-fault of our own. We also accept that normal ‘everyday’ wear and tear goes with the territory of hiring out self-drive campervans. If you are unfortunate to have a minor bump or coffee spillage along the way and you are able to continue your journey without it affecting the drivability and functionality of the vehicle, or indeed your enjoyment of Beau, then there is no need to inform us until you return. We will then address any issues in respect of insurance and deposits held.

If, on the other hand, you find yourself in the unfortunate position of having been involved in a more serious situation, for example a collision or you are stranded due to mechanical or environmental factors, then we would ask that you call us at your first available opportunity so that we may respond in the most appropriate manner. Comprehensive breakdown cover is included in your hire so at least we can get you and your family or friends to safety and organise recovery of the vehicle from the roadside.

Other than that, all we ask is that you treat Beau with the same respect and be as cautious and aware of your surroundings as you would be with your own vehicle. For example, be mindful of the wheels when pulling up at the curb, don’t park too close to anybody (or runaway trollies) in the supermarket car park and definitely don’t ‘see how far the tide has actually come in’ on the beach! Most importantly, don’t let the worry of informing us about any minor mishap spoil your enjoyment of Beau or ruin your holiday!

Yes, comprehensive breakdown cover and roadside assistance is included with your hire. This cover is provided throughout the UK and Europe so, in the unlikely event of the vehicle suffering a mechanical failure on your journey, our roadside assistance partner will either repair the vehicle at the side of the road or recover the vehicle and transport you and your fellow travellers to your chosen onward destination.

Having said that, VW Transporters are notoriously reliable and designed to cover high mileages throughout their lifetime so, hopefully, a breakdown won’t be something you will have to worry about.

Please see our ‘Extras’ list in the above ‘Features’ section for details. All items are chargeable, over and above the standard vehicle rental costs unless otherwise specified. Our price list is available upon request.

In a word, ‘no’. Although we are dog lovers (and lovers of all creatures for that matter), unfortunately we don’t allow animals to travel in our vehicles. This is mainly due to the fact that pets can unintentionally cause damage to fabrics, fixtures and fittings and we pride ourselves on the quality and cleanliness of our campervan(s). Not only that, we are respectful of other people’s allergies and intolerance to animal hair so we kindly ask that our clients refrain from taking their pets along for the ride.

Unfortunately, we don’t allow smoking or vaping in our campervans for obvious reasons. Feel free to take your cigarettes, cigars or pipe along on the journey though as there’s nothing better than sitting around the camp fire late at night, staring up at the stars and pondering the meaning of life with a cold beer and a cigar in hand! (personal preferences excepted)

The simple answer is that Beau is ultra-clean and hygienic… it wouldn’t suit her character or reputation to be anything less! It just so happens that we are IMI accredited Master Detailers so we have the in-house resources to ensure that Beau is presented at her very best at all times. Of course, we can’t guarantee that she won’t occasionally let her hair down (depending on who’s company she is in) but we can guarantee that she’ll be thoroughly cleansed of her sins and treated to a full interior anti-bacterial treatment prior to her next adventure! We don’t expect you to spend your holiday making your habitat pristine, we just ask you to be respectful. Oh… and we do provide some light cleaning utensils just in case!

Yes, you can go off-grid in Beau as she is equipped with a sophisticated electrical system with high capacity leisure battery and solar charging. How long you can go off grid for really depends on how much power you consume whilst onboard. As a general rule of thumb, we would say somewhere between 3-5 days without driving or hooking her up to an electrical supply but if you’re an’ electrical junkie’ the off-grid capability may be considerably less! You can monitor the vehicle’s energy consumption easily from the digital display mounted in the habitat and, if you are driving in-between multiple destinations, the leisure battery will recharge from the vehicle’s alternator, thus extending her off-grid capacity. Please bear in mind though that the twin 230V electrical sockets mounted in the habitat will only work if the vehicle is connected to an electrical outlet, for example on a campsite that offers electrical hook-up facilities.
